Midwest Turf & Irrigation was established in 1980 when Leonard L. Johnson and his wife Patt acquired the Omaha-based Midwest Toro. Leonard, a former Director of Sales and Marketing at The Toro Company, had previously founded L.L. Johnson Distributing in Denver in 1976 after purchasing Barteldes Seed Company. The two distributorships—Midwest Turf & Irrigation and L.L. Johnson—were brought together under the corporate name Pattlen Enterprises. In 2005, Leonard’s son, James Johnson, purchased the business and continued the legacy of excellence in distribution and customer service.

In 2025, Midwest Turf & Irrigation and L.L. Johnson became part of the Oakcreek Golf & Turf family of companies—joining a growing network of respected distributors across North America. While ownership has changed, our mission remains the same: supporting our customers with expert service, premium products, and trusted partnerships. We continue to operate under the Midwest Turf & Irrigation name, backed by a larger network and a long-term commitment to your success.
